Editorial Scope and Mission
Journal of Clinical Pathways® (JCP) is the only peer-reviewed digital publication solely dedicated to the in-depth exploration of oncology clinical pathways—a critical area of cancer care that is not covered with comparable rigor or focus in any other journal. What truly sets JCP apart is its multidisciplinary editorial board, which brings together health care providers, researchers, payers, and clinical pathways experts. This diverse representation ensures that every piece published reflects the perspectives and needs of all key stakeholders involved in the delivery of value-based cancer care.
JCP serves as a vital forum for educational and scholarly articles on the development, implementation, and evaluation of oncology clinical pathways. It covers a wide array of relevant and emerging topics, including:
- Comparative-effectiveness research
- Big data analytics
- Methodologies in pathway development
- Implementation science and adherence strategies
- Health economics and outcomes research
- Patient-centered outcomes
- Alternative payment and value-based care models
JCP's mission is to drive forward the conversation around oncology clinical pathways as a transformative tool for delivering high-quality, cost-effective care—especially as the health care system transitions from fee-for-service to value-based models. Clinical pathways unite real-world data with clinical decision-making to promote precision, consistency, and optimal outcomes in cancer care.
In every issue, JCP investigates how pathways can help address some of the most pressing challenges in oncology: controlling rising costs, minimizing patient risk, reducing unwarranted care variation, and improving outcomes. More than just a journal, JCP functions as a collaborative platform for stakeholders across the spectrum—oncologists, payers, researchers, and health care leaders—to share insights, report on real-world applications, and showcase the impact of pathway-driven approaches within their institutions.
Unlike broader publications that touch on health economics or clinical research tangentially, JCP maintains a laser focus on clinical pathways in oncology. This singular commitment, supported by a uniquely qualified editorial board, makes JCP the definitive resource for advancing clinical pathways as a cornerstone of value-based cancer care.
