Evaluating Adjuvant HAI Pump Therapy in Patients With Resected Colorectal Liver Metastases

At Great Debates Solid Tumors in Miami, Florida, Midhun Malla, MD, from The University of Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama, compares standard adjuvant chemotherapy and use of adjuvant hepatic artery infusion (HAI) pumps in patients with resected oligometastatic colorectal cancer with liver-only metastases.

Dr Malla argues that HAI pump therapy is not yet ready for routine use, emphasizing the established overall survival benefit of oxaliplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy and its support in current guidelines, while highlighting limitations of current HAI data and the need for improved patient selection and prospective randomized evidence before a practice change.
