Converging Voices in Pathway Innovation: A Special CPC+CBEx Edition
It is with great excitement that we present this special issue of the Journal of Clinical Pathways (JCP), which commemorates JCP’s 10th anniversary and highlights the Clinical Pathways Congress + Cancer Care Business Exchange (CPC+CBEx). As CPC+CBEx’s official Journal, JCP is proud to celebrate a decade of progress by showcasing years of work that have consistently reflected the conference’s core pillars of innovation, dialogue, and collaboration. In this issue, we will feature previously published/accepted peer-reviewed articles that align with numerous conference sessions. By highlighting our longstanding commitment to the themes central to CPC+CBEx, we want to reinforce the enduring connection between the Journal and this important event.
Based on your feedback, this year’s CPC+CBEx is a jam-packed, two-day conference that offers actionable insights and advances the science and implementation of clinical pathways. In a new enhancement for 2025, CPC+CBEx sessions are tagged according to our JCP Clinical Pathway Categories, creating a unified structure between the conference and the Journal.
You will hear discussions related to the following Clinical Pathway Categories: Treatment, Outcomes Measurement, Infrastructure & Innovation, and Business. For the Treatment category, presenters will discuss pharmacists’ expanding leadership role in clinical pathway integration, a topic near and dear to my heart. A session tagged with our Outcomes Measurement category will feature a discussion on the impact of real-world evidence on decision-making. While there are several sessions aligning with our Business category, we are looking forward to a continuation of last year’s presentation on creating a predictable cost of care model for treatment decisions, focusing on the efforts made by the Predictable Cost of Care Working Group (PCOC), a multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at broadening cost transparency beyond drug pricing, enhancing competitive context, and identifying opportunities for quality and efficiency improvement. Also featured at this year’s Congress are sessions tailored to our Infrastructure & Innovation category, from bispecifics and CAR-Ts in the community setting to the changing landscape of molecular therapy, radiopharmaceuticals, and theranostics, in addition to the current and potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) to support clinical decision-making and operational efficiency.
The Journal and CPC+CBEx, together, bring clinicians, policymakers, payers, and innovators together to support value-driven, evidence-based care. I am proud to have contributed to the evolutionary growth that both JCP and the CPC+CBEx conference have gone through to reach where they are today. We have long been committed to elevating the discussion of how to make the provision of health care more efficient while remaining patient-centric. Our goal 10 years ago was to leverage data to reduce unwarranted variation, align care around patient outcomes, and integrate emerging therapies into evolving value-based care models. This issue and the upcoming CPC+CBEx conference reflect that dynamic interplay of theory and practice, spotlighting groundbreaking research and practical applications.
