Recognizing Excellence in the Cath Lab
November 2005
Cath Lab Digest introduces a new space for outstanding cath labs this month: Recognizing Excellence. Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas’ cath lab team is featured as our first recognized group of professionals, and I encourage you to submit your own team’s photo and brief description of their accomplishments for our pages. Simply email a photo of your team in high-resolution digital format, along with a brief paragraph about them. There are many fantastic teams pulling together in cath labs across the nation, so share your team’s accomplishments with our readers! Email rkapur@hmpcommunications.com.
In this issue, CLD also shares developments and news from the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) meeting that took place at the end of October in Washington, D.C. This issue will also be making an appearance at the November American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, November 7“10. (look for news from that meeting in the upcoming December issue). If you will be attending the AHA meeting, please stop by our booth and say hello.
I regularly encourage readers to contact CLD with opinions, thoughts and reactions to the issue, but I also want to point out that our authors would appreciate your feedback as well. We try to include the author’s email address at the end of the article. Forlorn is the professional who labors to create a well-crafted article for our pages, and then doesn’t receive any response from readers! If you enjoyed a particular article or admire a point made by an author, let it be known. And who knows? You may be making a valuable contact for the future.
CLD is fortunate to be able to feature the wisdom of some experienced professionals in this issue. Dennis Holloway speaks music to every staff member’s ears with his advocacy for staff-focused CCL recruitment and retention by managers. Shawn Balaschak shares his facility’s experience with a new thrombectomy device, Rinspiration. CLD‘s email discussions continue, with professionals chiming in from all over the country in our What Do You Think? section. We also share an interview with Dr. Bruce Gibbons, who discusses his experience with SilvaGard, an antimicrobial coating for the surface of devices which may one day appear on many percutaneous devices in order to prevent infection. Educator Jason Wilson also returns in this issue with his advice for new cath lab professionals and a timely refresher on clinical trial jargon.
Enjoy!
