Hello, my name is Dr. Matthew Regulski, I'm the medical director of the Wound Institute of Ocean County in Thomas River, New Jersey, senior partner at Ocean County Foot and Ankle Surgical Associates in Thomas River, New Jersey. I've been in practice now for 22 years, concentrating primarily in diabetic wound healing, limb salvage, and reconstructive surgery. In the utilization of this very novel product, which is a synthetic self-assembling biomimetic matrix, we utilized it in a variety of wounds that have significant comorbidity and mortality risk and very difficult to heal. A lot of these patients did have exposed tendon, exposed muscle. I want to be clear that we just did not put this product on and did nothing else to heal the wound. As I've created a paradigm called Prepare to Repair, there's multiple things that you have to do each and every time you see a wound patient because there's multiple things conspired to create the wound, multiple things have to conspire to heal the wound. There's not gonna be one thing that's going to fix this whole problem. But in this instance, when we did that great standard of care preparing that tissue to be receptive and thus preparing itself to repair itself.
Utilizing this product was significant in that it was very compelling in the cases that we were able to heal. Severe diabetics with vascular disease is confirmed by the Mimosa product with very hypoxic bones, exposed tendon, exposed muscle, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, people with significant vascular disease, smokers, and some that were with very significant venous reflux, lymphedema, and long-standing venous leg ulcerations. So we did all those good things that you were taught to do in Prepare to Repair. And then in the application now of using the gel product, we had very significant, very expeditious, very compelling outcomes.
I want you to look at that and understand, again, that this synthetic novel, biomimetic matrix, has incredible capabilities as these folding proteins can do lots of things within a wound bed, especially enhancing the angiogenic cascade and also in recruiting cellular component into the wound for not only the angiogenesis, but also for the re-epithelialization. But in conjunction with all of the good things that we did in preparation for that wound to repair itself, the product had significant compelling wound healing healing as also confirmed by the Mimosa product of upraising the oxygen and thus the blood flow into the wound and all of that contributing together to create epithelialization and a healed wound in very significant cases with people that had very severe comorbidities and disease states.
